Arsenal midfielder Granit Xhaka's yellow card against Leeds is being investigated by the National Crime Agency amid suspicions of a MAJOR scandal following suspicious betting activity into his booking
Granit Xhaka was booked for timewasting in Arsenal's 4-1 win over Leeds
The FA conducted a six month investigation into the yellow card in December
They have referred the matter to the country's leading organised crime agency
The FA were alerted to suspicious betting patterns in relation to the booking
There has been no suggestion of wrongdoing by Arsenal or the player himself !!!
The alarm was raised by an unusually large bet of about £52,000 placed during the match on Xhaka to be booked in the final 10 minutes despite the fact that Arsenal were winning 4-1.
The Switzerland midfielder was booked by referee Andre Marriner for time wasting in the 86th minute as he delayed taking a free-kick.

Remember watching the incident at the time and the game was done so there was no need for Xhaka to behave as he did.
What happened gave the ref no choice and it was an obvious yellow for deliberately delaying the restart.
For anyone to clear Xhaka and put the spotlight on the ref (if thats what it is) is beyond belief

I remember this and it did raise eyebrows at the time, all this has done though is point the finger at the Ref if they also state Xhaka has been cleared?
Doesnt make sense though, he took ages to take that free kick, must have known it risked a yellow and at 4-1 up with minutes to go why would you do that anyway?

Saying that there is no suggestion of wrongdoing by Arsenal or the player himself really makes it look like Marriner is the dodgy one.
Xhaka was definitely time wasting, when they were 4-1 up and had no reason to delay the game, and Marriner was clearly right to book him, and did so 20 seconds after the kick could have been taken, so he didn't rush into it.
